The AI toolbox
Tools and better prompts
Like I’m 5
AI tools are like a big toolbox: one tool chats, one draws, one makes music. Asking clearly helps every tool do a good job.
The big idea
Different AI tools are good at different jobs: chatbots for words, image generators for pictures, music tools for songs, and coding assistants for programs. Picking the right tool saves time.
Every tool works better with clear instructions. Say what you want, who it's for, and any style or length. If the result isn't right, refine your request instead of starting over.
Examples
- Words: A chatbot drafts a thank-you note.
- Pictures: An image tool sketches a poster idea.
- Refining: 'Make it shorter and friendlier' improves the first draft.
Check your understanding
- Which prompt gives the AI the clearest job?
- Options: Explain volcanoes to a 10-year-old in five sentences; Volcanoes; Tell me stuff.
Answer: Explain volcanoes to a 10-year-old in five sentences. Saying what you want, and who it’s for, gives the AI a clear job. - What should you do if an AI tool's first result isn't right?
- Options: Refine your request with clearer details; Give up; Type random letters.
Answer: Refine your request with clearer details. Clear follow-up instructions usually improve results.
Remember
Clear prompts get better results from every AI tool.

Most AI apps have age rules, often 13+ and sometimes 18+. At this level, learners use real tools with supervision, check what they produce, protect personal data and credit AI help.
